The Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation, which is part of the University of Waterloo works with homeowners, communities, governments and businesses to identify, and reduce, the impacts of extreme weather and climate change.
One of its mandates is to offer a number of resources to help residents reduce their risk of experiencing a flood in their home, especially in the basement. The Home Flood Protection Program is a residential flood risk plan for residents to take action to reduce their flood risk and damage in the event of a basement flood.
Visit the Centre’s Flood Reduction Resources page for a comprehensive list of self assessments, tips, coverage and preparedness.
